I realize it's not optimal, but we literally could just jettison Haley and have Shesty take his roster spot. |

They could definitely do that but I think it would be preferable to Georgiev to keep playing even if it is in the AHL. |

I'd imagine that there could be some of a 3 man platoon and Georgie would get some starts anyway. I'd be a little worried that Georgie always seemed a bit meh in the A, though that team in front of him would be worlds better than when he was there before. |

we gotta trade Georgie
he needs a new contract after this season anyway and will be due for a raise, Huska is looking pretty good and can handle the AHL duties
Tyler Wall is graduating from college after this season and will probably be signed in March too
the solution is trading Georgie |

Don't forget if not next year, then in two years Olaf will be coming over too. Although I'm sure someone else will be signed for this purpose, don't forget we have to have someone to meet the expansion requirements, we can't use Hank.
I like the idea of trading Georgie too, I just hope someone will give something of value to us. |

Indeed question is whether the return for a backup goalie even compensates for avoiding the risk of not exploiting him to Ronnie Fr#10chise... as we have seen with VGK, there are often some kind of protection/take-deals anyway.

How about a decent prospect/pick and a compliant goalie? |

A team that takes Georgie might be helping us. People forget, guys like Howden, Lindgren, and Lemeuix would likely have to be protected or risked being exposed at the draft. Only first or second year players are exempt, and we would have a bunch of guys that could be at risk. I'm not going to pretend to know every team's future exposed list, but I would imagine Georgie would be one of the best goalie options available.
Losing a guy like Georgie is probably ok, losing the next Shea Theodore or Willy K and giving them a draft pick for the pleasure of doing so is not. |

We probably could get the second back, I'm not so sure about the first. Goalies just don't usually get traded for a ton. |

Toronto desperately needs an upgrade from Hutchinson and they'd love Georgiev's current cap hit, to me it seems like a no brainer for something to happen there where we take Hutchinson back in the package |

Absolutely no chance getting a 1st for a backup goalie, i would even doubt a (better) 2nd.

Hutchinson probably could be a decent option for us. I'd love to make a bigger deal and get Nylander from them for a bigger package, despite that the board's collective head would explode. |

I think what he meant was "the first" would be a decent prospect/pick and the "second" a compliant goalie. Not draft rounds.

It makes way too much sense to happen. Nylander should be our 2C for years to come with that hit, Chytil would be the best 3C in the league. It gives you an option if you think you want to move on from Mika eventually.
Also, They would make an attractive partner for trading Buch and probably would take Howden or Lias. You might have to give them ADA as well, but again that would seem like where you would be maximizing the return. It's not that hard to make the cap work for both teams. |

Toronto needs to end up with less cap hit after any trade they make. They have absolutely no wiggle room and it's going to get worse before it gets better. |

Getting Buch and ADA would help them out alot. Buch is signed for another couple years at a lower cap hit than Nylander and would probably be a monster in that lineup. ADA would automatically be a top 4 guy for them and stiffs like Ceci and Muzzin come off the books for them next year. They have to replace those guys, but having a rock like ADA already there probably lets them explore much cheaper options in UFA.
They would be gambling alot on Georgie in the trade being a full time starter. However, they probably could give him a pretty cheap 2-3 year contract and if it pays off, Andersson would be gone after next season. That's more cap savings for them.
It makes me feel icky helping Toronto get out of potential cap hell fairly easily. However, like I said this trade would make too much sense for both teams. |

I would love him to stay too, cap may dictate that we cannot keep him. If we keep him, with Miller coming up and Fox looking like a stud, we may very well be committing a lot of our cap to defenders. |
